Sermon by Rev. James Taiwo

The church has lost its first love. Why and where have we fallen?

  1. Cares of the world (They initially appear okay but quickly degenerate into spiritual pitfalls)
  • Competition
  • Thirst for wealth
  1. People are afraid of persecution, peer pressure, and fear of unknown. Meanwhile, God withdraws his hands when people fail under whatever circumstance.
  • “You have left your first love” (Revelation 2:1-4).
  • “Why… because you have not kept sabbath day holy” (Isaiah 58:3-6).
  • “The hands of the Lord is not too short to save” (Isaiah 59:1-2).
  • “The eyes of the Lord move to and fro the earth so show himself strong on behalves of people that serve him” (2 Chronicles 16:9).

Don’t blame others: We Are All Causes Of Christian Failures!

  • Parents
  • Children
  • Church
  • Church leadership

What Have We Promoted?

  • Technological gadget vs Bible
  • Cartoon Network vs Christian Education
  • Fairy tales vs Bible stories
  • Secular songs vs Memory verses

How can we go back to God?

Christians must have discipline.

  • Cut out the unnecessary stuff, and
  • Set our priority right

For example,

The parents can make their home a micro church and promote

  • Singing Christian songs
  • Family bible discussion
  • Family prayer
  • Make children play games with the Bible characters

God Frowns at Sin and Embraces Holiness

God Frowns at Sin and Embraces Holiness

The term “Daughters of Zion” was used on many occasions to refer to the beauty and pride of Israel; however, in some instances, God down tune importance of “Daughters of Zion” into a piece of entity worthy of severe punishment due to Israelites’ sins.

One of the instances is highlighted, “Moreover the Lord says: “Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, And walk with outstretched necks And wanton eyes, Walking and mincing as they go, Making a jingling with their feet, Therefore the Lord will strike with a scab The crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, And the Lord will uncover their secret parts” (Isaiah 3:16-17).

Lesson on God frowns at Sin and embraces Holiness

assassination-attempt-268910_640God will not turn a blind eye on any Christian who goes against His will.

He can not bless anyone who persists in sin! Since he is just and faithful, the Creator cannot exonerate any of his children from sin – unless the fellow repent.

For any Christian to enjoy optimum blessing and protection of God, he (or she) must ensure that he complies with God’s laws.

Holiness is God’s standard, and all his children are required to be holy in order to be in good terms with him.

Prayer to frown at Sin and embrace Holiness like God

Praying hands over open bibleDear God, I understand that sin can create a barrier between you and I; therefore, I am determined to run from sin.

I ask for your grace to live a holy and acceptable life before you so that I can qualify for your blessings.

Please bless me on earth, and also count me worthy to receive your heavenly blessings.

Please let your grace be sufficient for me so that I can live a satisfying life before you always.

For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

Christ’s Disciples Used their Gifts for the Gospel

Christ’s Disciples Used their Gifts for the Gospel

Jesus Christ appointed his disciples for specific ministerial activities. (He also sent them to the field to evangelize his gospel, and they came back with remarkable testimonies! The disciples brought good news and glorified God). The scripture reported

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting” (Ephesians 4:11-14 NKJV).

Lesson on the Use of Gifts to Share Gospel

Christians are given grace with a diversity of gifts to prosper for the kingdom of God. Meanwhile, despite a variety of gifts and ministries that exist in Christendom, believers must still consider evangelism as a prime task, and we must do it effectively.

We must share our faith with other people, and motivate them to accept Jesus Christ as theibinoculars-1464304-1279x933r Lord and Savior. No Christian should underestimate the importance of evangelism since it is very important to God. In fact, it is written,

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. (2 Timothy 4:1-5 ESV)
evangelism

Gospel propagation (evangelism) is so much important to God to the extent that he had to send his only begotten Son to the world for it. His Son (Jesus) must preach and save people for his kingdom. Christ preached, and Christians must preach too! The more we preach the gospel, the more people will come to God’s kingdom – and Satan’s kingdom will become depopulated at the same time. Also, as we preach the gospel, God will be happy to decorate our lives with beautiful benefits.

Prayer for Grace to Use Gifts for Gospel Sharing

praying-25596_640Dear God, I want to preach your gospel, please teach me how to do so. Give me the confidence to share your good news with unbelievers so that they can become saved too. Anoint me to freely extend the light of your gospel to both the reached and unreached parts of the world.

Please let your light shine through me so that many people can become saved and qualify for your kingdom. Also, please keep me fit so that I can be counted among people that will meet and rejoice with you on the last day. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
