God placed a conditional blessing on King Asa; he will bless and protect the king if he remains loyal to him. However, the king will suffer heavy punishment if he would be found inconsistent with his Maker.
The scripture reported,
“The Spirit of God came on Azariah son of Oded. He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.” (2 Chronicles 15:1-2 NIV).
Lesson on God’s Standard
God is loving and he will bless people that serve him, but he will dishonor people who are disloyal to him. Since his standard of righteousness is irrevocable, Jehovah cannot bless people who are persistent in sin.
He regards unrepentant sinners as wicked people; he will keep them at distance until they repent from their sins. The Creator will punish people that remain adamant in their sins!
However, God’s divine riches and honor will follow men and women that faithfully serve God. He will prosper them in all their ways, so that all people can glorify his name in their lives.
Prayer of Grace to remain Faithful
Dear God, I realize that you want my perfect attention, and you want me to maintain consistent relationship with you; therefore, I ask for your grace to remain faithful and meet your holiness expectations.
Energize me through your Holy Spirit to walk in your ways so that I can prosper throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
