Every king needs counseling, and his counselor must be a good one. King Ahaziah in the bible was unfortunate to have a bad counselor who misled him.

King Ahaziah chose a closest family member as his counselor. He was misled, and his life ended in crisis.

King Ahaziah was counseled to self-destruction as the scripture reported,

“Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri.

He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother advised him to do wickedly” (2 Chronicles 22:2-3 NKJV).

Lesson on Good Counseling for Christians

Every child of God must be careful to select a God-fearing person as his or her mentor.

No child of God should emulate a corrupt and ungodly leader.

Christians should venture to interact with mature Christians that cherish bible principles and practice them.

Anyone worthy of mentorship honor must be ready to lead people in a way that glorifies God.

Christian counselors must ensure they lead well and challenge their protégé to model Jesus Christ.

The goal of mentorship should not be to “lord” over anyone. Rather, the goal must be to help a protégé maximize his or her God-given talents and resources to glorify God.

Prayer to Receive and Follow Good Counsels

Dear God, please help me not to form alliance with people that care less about you.

Help me to be sensitive enough to interact and network with people who have regard for your principles.

Let me walk with people of value, so that your light may shine through me.

Help me to be a good example for other people to emulate.

Please let my services be acceptable before you always.

For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

Titus was praised for having excellent Spirit and consistent heart towards God.

Paul praised him and said,

“But thanks be to God, who put into the heart of Titus the same earnest care I have for you. For he not only accepted our appeal, but being himself very earnest he is going to you of his own accord” (2 Corinthians 8:16-17 ESVUK).

Lesson on Consistent Services to God

God honors people that serve him with consistent mind. Jehovah will reward them with honor.

He will charge his angels to watch over them, so that they would not dash their feet against stone (Psalm 91:11).

The rewards of people who faithfully serve God are plenty.

God’s grace, goodness, and prosperity will be pronounced in every aspect of their lives. They shall always have upper hands over their enemies.

Prayer to be Consistent in God’s Services

Dear God, I ask you to please give me a heart that is sold out for your faithful services.

Help me to dedicate my life into serving you with a consistent mind, so that I can qualify to receive your reward of blessings on earth and in heaven.

Please do these things and many more for me. For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

bible devotion

People who reserve their confidence in God will not be put to shame. They will triumph over difficult situations to possess their possessions.

The scripture stated,

“But in Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and it shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions” (Obadiah 1:17 JUB).

Lesson on Confidence in God

Deliverance, safety, and prosperity are bound to follow people that faithfully serve God. Some challenges may rise again them, but they shall ultimately prevail.

Believers must retain their confidence in God since they have his guaranteed promise of victory.

No matter how tough a situation may appear, God will cover his people under his blanket of protection and provision.

He will help them smile over their crises. He will pay their bills and comfort them in all situations.

Jehovah will ensure that his children always have reasons to glorify his name.

It makes sense for anyone to establish definite relationship with God, since there is nothing good to lose in the process.

A person who fails to establish a consistent relationship with God have tendency to lose a lot of benefits!

God’s deliverance, safety, and prosperity may not be steadily available for people who keep distant relationship with him.

Prayer of Grace to Have Steady Confidence in God

Dear God, I do not want to fool myself by assuming that it is not necessary to have definite relationship with you!

I need you; I need your deliverance, protection, and provisions!

Therefore, I am ready to give all it takes to have you in my life as my personal Lord and Savior.

I declare today that I yield my total life to you. I confess your Son Jesus Christ as my Lord, and I accept him as my personal Savior.

From now on, I will faithfully serve you, and I will do this for the rest of my life!

For in the name of Jesus Christ I prayed. Amen.

bible devotion

God delivered the nation of Judah from the enemy nations that outnumbered them. The king of Judah (King Jehoshaphat) cried to the Lord for help, and he remarkably saved him and his people in an unprecedented manner.

The king prayed to God as the scripture reported,

“Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” (2 Chronicles 20:12 NIV).

Since King Jehoshaphat prayed, God responded with a promise of protection. Therefore as a step of faith, the king organized a special worship session to God. Something remarkable happened afterward.

The Scripture reported,

“Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.

For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them.

And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another” (2 Chronicles 20:22-23 NKJV).

Lesson on Helping Hands during Distress

Jehovah – the Lord God – will fight for his people, and he will not allow their enemies to rejoice over them.

Anyone who fights God’s children will incur God’s wrath.

The Creator will go any extent to defend his own people, and he will punish their adversaries.

The Creator has honor; he has promised protection for his people, and he will fulfill it.

He will do whatever it takes to achieve his goal of protection on his children.

Hence, anyone who aims at attacking God’s children should think twice, because he (or she) will pay for his actions.

The consequences of evildoers’ actions would be too much to bear!

Prayer of Affirmation during Distress

Dear God, what a privilege I have to be your child! I am your choice child and I am the apple of your eyes. I believe that you will go any extra mile to defend your glory in my life.

You will rescue me from evildoers and give me upper hands over them.

With my very eyes I will see my expectations on the adversaries!

All what I ask now is grace to remain your true child!

Please keep my feet steadfast in your presence, and let me remain fit to inherit your kingdom.

For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

Anyone who is a born-again Christian has become transformed from being a sinful person to a person of holiness. Such person is expected to abide by God’s standard of holiness.

The scripture stated,

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV).

Lesson on How to Live New Life in Jesus Christ

Christianity involves spiritual transformation of souls from sinfulness to holiness. Therefore, a person who becomes a child of God must be ruled by the Spirit of God.

He (or she) ought not operate in sin anymore. Since his acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, he must disengage himself from old ways of life.

He must start to demonstrate godly lifestyle. As a born again Christian, he must allow God’s Holy Spirit to comfort, instruct, and direct him so that he can remain qualified to receive God’s blessings on earth and in heaven.

In addition, people who are possessed with the Spirit of God are recognized to be adopted sons and daughters of God.

Meanwhile, people who refuse Jesus’ account of resurrection, and those who fail to confess Christ as their Lord and Savior will not have portions with God in heaven.

Their portions will be with devil in hell fire (Matthew 25:41). Therefore, everyone who aspires to go to heaven must confess Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and Savior.

Prayer of Confession in Jesus Christ

Dear God I want to go to heaven, therefore I am determined to become a born-again Christian. I confess your Son Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.

I believe he died for my sins and resurrected. I also believe that I can only receive forgiveness of sins through him. Therefore, I confess my sins and repent from them.

I declare my total life for Jesus Christ as from today. I will serve him today, and throughout the days of my life. Amen.
