God’s divine direction is important for successful Christian living.
Holy Spirit directed Philip to travel through a desert so that he could meet and preach to a man who was yearning to learn about Jesus Christ.
The scripture reported,
“An angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert. So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, was returning.
And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot” Philip obeyed the Holy Spirit and he preached to the traveler; the man gave his life to Jesus Christ and was immediately baptized. (Acts 8:26-29 ).
Lesson on God’s Divine Direction
Holy Spirit is a guide to all Christians (which gives divine direction); any Christian who responds to his leadership will not fail in life and ministry.
The Spirit of God operates in diverse ways, and he can lead any Christian to carry out some unusual tasks.
However, the Holy Spirit would only guide anyone to please God, and he would never contradict bible principles!
Moreover, miracles happen when a Christian responds to the leadership of the Holy Spirit: People receive salvation, healing, faith, assurance, and other miracles.
Also, God rejoices whenever his children adequately respond to the leadership of his Spirit.
Hence, it can be concluded that there is no regret in heeding to the instructions and leadership of the Holy Spirit.
It is a Win-Win situation for all parties.
Devil is the only one who loses in the process!
Prayer for Discerning Spirit
Dear God, please teach me how to respond to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
Let me be prayerful and sensitive so that I can understand every instruction that the Spirit offers.
Make me a sensitive servant that listens to the voice of the Holy Spirit, and makes me an obedient servant that yields to his instructions.
Let my obedience benefit your kingdom. Let me never regret serving you, but help me to prosper in this life, and in heaven also.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is God’s special gift made available for all Christians to enjoy and live a prosperous life.
Christians of our days ought to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit just like early days Christians did. Some early Christians received the special blessing as narrated by Paul,
“And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.”
Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied” (Acts 19:1-6).
Lesson on receiving Baptism of the Holy Spirit
Christians should understand what baptism of the Holy Spirit means.
It means empowerment of God’s power through the Holy Spirit.
Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not the same as “Entrance of God’s Spirit.”
The entrance of God’s Spirit comes to all Christians during conversion (when someone becomes born again), but the baptism of the Holy Spirit is especially given to Christians who seek it.
Meanwhile, all Christians need the baptism of the Holy Spirit to faithfully serve God in this wicked world.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit gives someone special strength to stand uprightly when others have fallen flat.
Therefore, all believers should seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit like the early apostles during Pentecost (Acts 2:1-3).
We can pray in church and/or solicit prayers from church elders (like Paul prayed for Ephesus brethren – Acts 19:6).
We can also individually wait on God through prayer and fasting to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
A dedicated prayer is needed to secure the baptism of the Holy Spirit; therefore, believers should pray to have it.
Prayer on Receiving the Holy Spirit
Dear God, I want to receive the baptism of your Holy Spirit.
To qualify for this treasured gift, I confess my sins and repent from them.
Please baptize me with your Holy Spirit to be empowered to walk before you in righteousness.
Let your Spirit turn me to a giant Christian who will live a triumphant life on earth.
Let him enable me with the ability to effectively serve you to bear fruits for your kingdom.
Let your divine Spirit guide me in every aspect of life to enjoy your benefits.
For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
Paul took control of a terrible situation through the power of the Holy Spirit; he raised a dead man back to life.
An individual who attended Paul’s crusade fell from a 3rd-floor window and died instantly.
Although the situation was horrific, Paul refused to allow it to distract his ongoing ministry activity. Paul ensured that he finished his sermon without distraction.
Meanwhile, when the meeting ended, Paul – the man of God – demonstrated the power of God. The scripture reported,
“Paul went down, fell on him (the dead man), and embracing him said, “Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him.” Now when he had come up, had broken bread and eaten, and talked a long while, even till daybreak, he departed. And they brought the young man in alive, and they were not a little comforted” (Acts 20:10-12).
Lesson on The Power of The Holy Spirit in Believers
Christians are the anointed children of God; we have been commissioned by God to demonstrate his power through the Holy Spirit.
With God’s Spirit in us, we can do valiantly. Since we have been chosen, nothing shall be impossible for us to overcome.
No situation can put us under subjection, the Holy Spirit of God that lives in us will remain instant and exact. He will solve problems and provide solutions.
Everything will remain within the reach of a child of God! Dead will come back to life, and sick people will be healed.
All it takes to enjoy the demonstrative power of God is faith! Children of God must have unwavering faith.
Our trust in God must be absolute before God’s power can fully manifest in us and through us.
Prayer on The Power of The Holy Spirit in Believers
Dear God, please anoint me with your divine Holy Spirit to do exploits for your kingdom.
Let your Holy Spirit empower me to exercise my authority over all situations.
Let the fresh fire of your Holy Spirit burn within me always so that I can live an overcomer’s life on earth, and also remain qualify for heaven.
For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen!
