Crucify him; crucify him, shouted the Pharisees who wanted Jesus dead by all means. The enemies got their wish, but it became my blessing!
Jesus Christ shed his blood on the Cross of Calvary for humanity. He suffered and languished in pain from his persecutors who beat him mercilessly and squeezed the crown of thorns on his head. An already weaken Son of God was forced to carry his own cross as mob chanted “crucify him” to Roman soldiers.
“Crucify him, crucify him” the mob was shouting. They wanted Jesus dead by all means. The authority (in collaboration with the Pharisees) dragged Jesus to Golgotha where they nailed his arms and feet on the cross. Hammers pounded the nails as they were driven into his arms and feet; he cried in pain but no one was ready to help. The enemies laughed and mocked him as he groaned in pain!
Jesus’ enemies were having a field day as they hung the body of Jesus on the cross and hammered the crown of thorns to his head. They even took their time to post on Jesus’ cross to showcase the allegation they brought against him. The signage was “Hinri” meaning The self-proclaimed “King of Jews.”
Blood run all over Jesus’ body as he was groaning in excruciating pain.
Not just the enemies mocked Jesus Christ, the onlookers and passersby did the same. Even one of the two thieves nailed to the cross took a cheap shot at Jesus stating, “If you are the Son of God, save yourself, and save us also.” (Luke 23:37).
No one sympathized with Jesus Christ, except a few mothers and some men of integrity. Perhaps those few ones murmured, “This is an act of injustice; this man doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment!” However, what influence have the sympathizers gotten? They were powerless by all standards!
Jesus Shed His Blood to Save Mankind!
Jesus Christ languished in excruciating pain on the cross. Blood flowed from wounds sustained from beatings and crown of thorns hammered to his head. Meanwhile a soldier doubled his punishment as he gave him vinegar to drink when he lamented for water. Perhaps the same soldier tossed spear into his side as water and blood gushed out from his side!
However, the experience of Christ from his enemies is a prophecy in fulfillment. Long before he was born, Isaiah had prophesied about him,
“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5 KJV).
O that the blood of Jesus Christ may never be in vain over my life!
The blood washes sins away! He cleanses people’s lives from their past mistakes and make them fit for God’s kingdom. Believers receive God’s forgiveness via the blood of Jesus Christ! That is, someone who confesses his sins and prays in the name of Jesus will receive God’s forgiveness.
The blood of Jesus Christ heal all kinds of diseases and sickness. The power of God transpires from the blood of Jesus Christ to perform miracles in the lives of people who believe! That is, anyone who anchors his faith in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ and also trust in his blood will experience God’s supernatural power of healing and deliverance.
The blood of Jesus Christ gives Christians upper hands over the power of darkness! Since no activity of men could prevent Jesus Christ from resurrection, whoever anchors his faith in the same Jesus will have similar experience. No power of man or of Satan will be able to prevail over him!
The Resurrection Power of Jesus and Its Benefits…Christians have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ to live above Satan’s trials and temptations. Also, no persecution of the enemy can prevail over us since the power consist in Jesus’ resurrection has earn us upper arms…
Christians will face persecution in this world, but God will help us overcome it!
Today’s believers are in no way different from early day Christians that were severely persecuted by their opponents.
Early believers survived their trial moments; they also had effective evangelism.
Many new souls were added to the faith on a daily basis when early Christians were severely persecuted.
A young lawyer called Saul spearheaded the persecution of early Christians.
He was obsessed with his Judaism (religion) and persecuted Christianity.
He persecuted Christians from door to door, and from town to town.
Eventually, Saul met with the Lord and became saved.
(Saul converted to Christianity and changed his name to Paul).
Jesus Christ saved Paul and turned him to his fisherman – an evangelist! (Acts 9).
The conversion of Paul from Judaism to Christianity infuriated the Pharisees who considered him as their effective agent.
They attempted to kill Paul, however, God protected him.
God exposed the anti-gospel individuals that wanted to kill Saul as the scripture reported,
“… So he (Saul) was with them at Jerusalem, coming in and going out. And he spoke boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus and disputed against the Hellenists, but they attempted to kill him. When the brethren found out, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him out to Tarsus” (Acts 9:28-30).
Important Lessons on Persecution of Saints
1. Persecution of saints is inevitable
People who have professed their faith in Jesus Christ will suffer persecution in this world, but Jesus will help us prevail.
The persecution of saints would come in different forms, and make believers experience pain.
However, believers ought to maintain focus and serve God effectively.
2. Resolute faith will help Christians overcome persecutions
Christians must maintain confidence in God and hold on to our profession of faith in Jesus Christ.
“For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 cor 15:9-10).
Christians must be courageous to find motivation in our persecutions.
As we endure in faith, we must allow the Holy Spirit of God to rule us.
We must let God’s light shine through us to make Satan ashamed.
God will utilize our irresistible faith to conquer Satan.
That is, believers should proclaim the faithfulness of God while we are being persecuted.
The evil wall of the enemy will crack and ultimately collapse as we affirm the faithfulness of God.
Satan cannot withstand God’s light; he will cave in and yield to God’s light to shine as we maintain irresistible faith in God.
3. Christians to preach gospel while under persecution
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you” (2 Corinthians 4:7-12 KJV).
A Christian who suffers persecution should endeavor to live a pious lifestyle like Apostle Paul.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:35-39).
Despite repeated persecutions that Paul suffered from his opponents during his time, he was determined to remain an active Christian.
He traveled far and wide to preach the gospel.
Paul traveled beyond the border of his country and visited various remote countries to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
He reached out to many gentile nations and led many unbelievers to Christ.
Perhaps the greatest achievement of Apostle Paul is that he wrote many inspiring letters to early Christian churches that were sparsely located around the globe.
Paul’s letter edified early Christians worldwide!
Those letters of Paul eventually became part of the manuscripts that were canonized into the bible.
Today, Christians throughout the world continue to find motivation and inspiration from the letters that Paul wrote to early Christian churches!
Christians to Pray for Power to Endure Persecution
Christians to pray for God’s strength to endure persecution; we need to ask God for strength to turn our adversity into a motivating factor to preach an effective gospel of Jesus Christ.
Dear Jesus Christ, I appreciate your word that states, “In this world you will be of much tribulation, but be of good shares, I have overcome the world” (Acts 16:32-33).
Please give me the strength to find motivation in any persecution that I suffer.
Help me to stand firm in faith and preach your gospel under whatever circumstance!
Endow me with strength to maintain stable faith in you always!
Please subdue the power of my enemies, and let your Holy Spirit energize me to remain faithful to you, so that I can reign with you in heaven.
Please God help me! For the in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
Jesus Christ announced to all people that his salvation offer is the only determining factor for anyone to enter into the kingdom of God.
A person who rejects Jesus’ offer of salvation will not have a part in the kingdom of God. Jesus said,
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes in Him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man” (John 5:24-26).
(Anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as his personal Lord, and repents from his sin is considered a saint of God – and is meant to enter heaven).
Prayer of Grace to make Heaven
Dear God, I realize that this present world and all it contains are vanities. They are perishable and they will vanish someday; therefore, I have decided to preserve my treasures where they will not corrupt.
I am determined to give my life to Jesus Christ! Today, I (mention your name) state my faith declaration thus:
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; he died for my sins so that I can have eternal life.
I confess my sins of (mention the sins you as can remember).
I also confess every unknown sin. I repent from all my sins, and I give my complete life unto Jesus Christ.
As from today, I will faithfully follow Jesus Christ, and I will serve him for the rest of my life.
Also, since I have become a child of God, I will share my salvation experience with other people.
Adam lost the salvation but thank God for Jesus Christ who regained it back.God created all things by himself. He called all things into existence – through his divine authority. The scripture said,
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light” (Genesis 1:1-3 NKJV).
Lesson On The Salvation of Jesus Christ
God is the father of all creations. All things in existence listen to him, and they obey his instructions. However, God shared the same authority with Adam and Eve (the first man and first woman) immediately after creation.
Unfortunately, Adam and Eve lost their golden opportunity due to sin – the salvation meant for humankind. However, Jesus Christ regains the same opportunity and he gives the privilege to his followers.
Therefore, anyone who believes in Jesus Christ has dominion over all situations.
All believers are empowered to rule over their world. All children of God retain the right to command and possess their goodness in the land of the living. Hallelujah!
Prayer of Salvation and Victory
In the name of Jesus Christ, I regain my victory over Satan. Since I am a child of God, I command all situations to work to my advantage.
I take dominion over both visible and invisible situations, and I command all knees to bow in the name of Jesus Christ.
I confidently possess the gates of my enemies, and I reclaim all my lost opportunities in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
