Holiness has always been God’s priority. Children of Israel sinned repeatedly against him with their unholy characters to the extent that they pressured him to allow terrible situations to befall them.
Isaiah, the mouthpiece of God prophesied,
“Here is a message about the Valley of Vision: What is the reason that all of you go up to the rooftops? The noisy city is full of raucous sounds; the town is filled with revelry. Your slain were not cut down by the sword;they did not die in battle.
All your leaders ran away together— they fled to a distant place; all your refugees were captured together—they were captured without a single arrow being shot.
So I say: “Don’t look at me! I am weeping bitterly. Don’t try to console me concerning the destruction of my defenseless people.” For the sovereign master, the Lord who commands armies, has planned a day of panic, defeat, and confusion. In the Valley of Vision people shout and cry out to the hill.” (Isaiah 22:1-5 NET).
Lesson on A Decision to Serve God in Holiness
Sin is a terrible thing that has ever happened to mankind.
It caused the first man and first woman to fall from grace; it continues to build walls of separation between humanity and God.
Sin makes it difficult for God to perform his wonders in the lives of his people.
Since God is holy, he cannot deal with sin. Meanwhile, Satan, the enemy of righteousness continues to pester humans with all sorts of sinful activities that can irritate God.
However, God has provided an escape route for people who are trapped in sin.
Jehovah provided his Son Jesus Christ as a sure route of escape.
Any man or woman who believes in Jesus can overcome the craving of sin, and escape the penalty of sin. Christ the Son of God is the pathway to victory.
To enjoy the victory, a person must confess Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior. The scripture stated,
“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10 NKJV)
Prayer on God’s Help to Serve Him in Holiness
Dear Lord, I have the desire to serve you in holiness; I want to meet your expectations and live a holy life.
Meanwhile, it is sometimes difficult to meet your holiness standard; therefore, I am asking for your special grace to measure up.
Empower me through your Holy Spirit to do what pleases you so that I can be qualified to enter your kingdom.
In addition, I understand that no one can make it to heaven without first confessing Jesus Christ as Lord.
Therefore, I confess your Son Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
I will follow him today, and throughout my life – so help me God. Amen.
