Worship to the living God has great gains! King Hezekiah outperformed his predecessors to lead derailed citizens of Judah back to God. He had a clear plan of what to do, and he did it well.
The king charged God’s priests and Levites to strip God’s temple of improper activities.
He encouraged people to offer their sacrifices to the living God instead of idol worship.
King Hezekiah also ordered some staff to disseminate his special message throughout the land. His message was clear and simple as stated,
“All people must shun idolatry and return to God.”
It is reported, as people responded and gathered to repair God’s altar for true worship to God,
“King Hezekiah gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep, and the leaders gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep, and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.
The whole assembly of Judah rejoiced, also the priests and Levites, all the assembly that came from Israel, the sojourners who came from the land of Israel, and those who dwelt in Judah.
So there was great joy in Jerusalem, for, since the time of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem.
Then the priests, the Levites, arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard; and their prayer came up to His holy dwelling place, to heaven” (2 Chronicles 30:24-27).
Lesson on Worship of the Living God vs Idol Worship
God still loves people who faithfully worship him like people of olden days. In fact, the scripture stated,
“The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…” – 2 Chronicles 16:9).
Heavenly Father delights in people who fear him and refuses to follow a multitude in their evil practices.
God’s rewards towards his faithful children include long life, good health, and prosperity.
More importantly, God will award the gift of eternal life for people who remain steadfast in him until the end.
Prayer on Worship to the Living God
Dear God, please help me to live a disciplined life on earth and serve you in truth.
Keep me steadfast, and let me remain immovable and nonresponsive to worldly pressures.
Make me a man/woman of integrity who will remain faithful to you unto the end, so that I can receive your tremendous blessings in heaven.
For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
