Life is full of lessons to learn, and it sometimes consists of affliction and some tough situations to battle with. Children of God must understand that our heavenly Father is ever standing beside us to help us overcome whatever situation that we might be going through.
The fact about God remains that he will keep his sincere friendship with us – Even when any earthly friend has deserted us.
Learn from David in the Bible
The crisis forced him to recognize his true friends.
David who had wrongly assumed that all people loved him got to know the reality of life when his own son deposed him and his trusted friends followed suit.
David, while escaping from his son Absalom got to know the true color of a friend called Shimei who summoned courage to curse him to his face, and cast both stone and dust at him to customarily express his dissatisfaction to his government.
The scripture reported,
“Now when King David came to Bahurim, there was a man from the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei the son of Gera, coming from there.
He came out, cursing continuously as he came. And he threw stones at David and at all the servants of King David. And all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
Also, Shimei said thus when he cursed: “Come out! Come out! You bloodthirsty man, you rogue! The Lord has brought upon you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned; and the Lord has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son. So now you are caught in your own evil because you are a bloodthirsty man!” (2 Samuel 16:5-8).
Although Shimei later apologized, the lesson is already learned! (2 Samuel 19,20; 2 Samuel 19:18-20).
Learn Lesson from Affliction
Life is all about learning, and children of God must attempt to learn from every situation that we may be experiencing.
God does not afflict anyone, but he sometimes allows his children to pass through difficult moments so that we can learn some necessary lessons that we would have preferred to avoid, but which are necessary for our growth and success.
God teaches lessons in afflictions, and he uses uncomfortable situations to stiffen our loose ends for the purpose of blessing us and glorifying His name in our lives.
Christians must learn how to trust God during the affliction period. We must learn how to interpret God’s voice through our afflictions, and we must learn how to listen to his voice and obey it!
Depending on any given situation, we may not necessarily need to seek for a quick breakthrough until we have learned enough lessons that God desires.
No doubt that God will turn our afflictions to triumph after we have learned and appropriately responded to his teachings.
God will turn our trying moments to our advancements. Our lives would become better, and his name will be glorified.
The Creator will surely help us to overcome every crisis that may come our way, and he will utilize every moment of our affliction to build our characters and confidence; he will transform us into some very sharp instrument that is fit for his glory.
Prayer to Overcome Affliction
Dear God, please teach me every lesson that I need to learn to fit your purpose.
Help me to adequately respond to training, and utilize every challenge that I face to build my character and confidence so that I can become fit for your honor.
Please turn whatever challenge the enemy might be throwing at me into my blessing.
Make whatever the enemy intends for evil turn around to become my blessing.
Train and fine-tune your grace in my life so that I can become prosperous in this life and also bear profiting fruits for your kingdom.
For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen!
