The key insight is simple: Sambalat and Tobiah don’t attack because you are failing—they attack because your progress is threatening their agenda. When Nehemiah moved forward to restore what was broken, the enemies became furious. That same pattern still happens today when a child of God is trying to build, grow, and obey God’s direction.

So how did Nehemiah win?

1) Recognize the real battle

This teaching reminds us that not every resistance is “normal life.” Sometimes there is spiritual opposition behind what we see. Sambalat and Tobiah can show up through people, pressure, mocking words, and strategic distractions designed to make you stop.

2) Be prayerful—and be watchful

Nehemiah prayed, but he also posted guards and stayed alert. This is a major lesson: prayer without watchfulness can make a believer vulnerable. You can pray and still set boundaries. You can pray and still stay wise. This balance defeats Sambalat and Tobiah's strategies.

3) Check your own heart

One strong warning from this message is personal: don’t become a Sambalat and Tobiah to someone else. If you cannot support others, don’t destroy them. If you cannot pray for them, don’t use your mouth against them. God’s elevation works best in a life that is clean and supportive.

This is the moment of surrender, where we let go of our struggles, our resistance, and our self-will. Here, we yield everything: our fears, our plans, our dreams, and ask God to consume us, shape us, and use us wholly for His glory.

The Scriptures teach us that the most powerful position a believer can occupy is the place of absolute surrender. When you fully submit your life to God, there is no more wrestling. There is no more bargaining. There is only obedience, trust, and devotion.

“God, take us to the place where we stand naked before You — without hiding anything anymore. Let us be completely exposed, that You may see the plainness of our purpose, the plainness of our mind, the plainness of our integrity, the plainness of our holiness, the plainness of Your grace in our lives. What God Reveals in the Place of Surrender

1. The Plainness of His Purpose When we yield, God’s purposes become clearer. Life shifts from confusion to clarity, and we begin aligning our steps with His will.
2. The Plainness of His Mind Our thoughts and desires begin to reflect His. Our decisions are shaped by His Word, not by our fleeting emotions.
3. The Plainness of His Integrity and Holiness In surrender, we stop performing for God — instead, we are transformed into His likeness, by His Spirit.
4. The Plainness of His Grace and Love We experience God’s unconditional love more deeply. That grace not only fills us but overflows to others through us.
5. The Power of His Righteousness Surrender ushers us into a life of spiritual authority, purity, and confidence — not by our strength, but by His righteousness working in us.

Many people experience the general goodness of God, like the rain that falls on both the just and the unjust. ?️ God provides sunshine, oxygen, and opportunities to everyone, regardless of background or status. These are general blessings from a generous God who loves all His creation.

But this message goes beyond the general. It is about that one moment when God’s attention focuses on you specifically, when His favor becomes personal, intimate, and extraordinary. When God gives you that special look, everything about your life begins to change.

? The Example of Abraham – The Man Who Caught God’s Eye ?️

The story of Abraham in Genesis 22:15-17 reveals what it means to receive a special look from God. When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, it was not a small test. Another warning for every child of God is not to blindly follow titles, positions, or names. A man may be called a great pastor or prophet, but that does not automatically make him a permanent child of God. What matters is daily obedience to the Lord and a life that produces the fruit of righteousness.

What lessons we’ve learned during pandemic?- People flock to churches during September 11 attack- People cried and prayed during a pandemic

What else we’ve learned during the pandemic?- Everyone blamed someone for the societal crisis- Everyone looked up to the government for a solution- All countries looked up to the developed nations for a solution

What else we’ve learned?

• Getting vaccine
• Investing in research
• Empowering the CDC

• BUT WHAT IF…- What if the next big thing is not sickness?- What if something on a global scale affects technology that we have all come to cherish and heavily rely on?- What if the sun never sets again?

The problem with humans is that we have a short memory- Once there’s a sense of relief, humans revert back to their previous behavior

WISDOM

- If we are so smart to only prepare for future diseases, can we be also smart to prepare for future unknowns?- What if we look for a HIGHER POWER, and build a relationship with Him so that He will be available when human wisdom has failed?-

When the unavoidable danger comes, only those who have reserved their trust in God will escape.

Let’s learn from the parable of the “WISE and FOOLISH VIRGINS” (Matthew 25:1-13)

Most people don’t think during peacetime, but wise people do.

• If you consider yourself wise, have you thought of what may happen to you when:- All systems of government fail?- When medication stopped working?- When GPS stopped and all signals jammed?- When the sun stopped setting and utility grid overwork and pack-up?- Have you thought of all these things?

If you wait till later to do these things, does that signifies you’re wise?You’d better think about these things; prepare for a rainy day by casting your trust in the Higher Power (GOD) and believe His Son, Jesus Christ.

Anything called a relationship must meet certain criteria. The term relationship is to relate, engage, accommodate, give, and accept.

For any relationship to be healthy, it has to be maintained.

In your relationship, you are expected to engage actively. You can’t be passive and expect to have a good relationship!

In most cases, relationships fail because the people involved don’t want to accept their responsibilities.

For example, there are common mistakes that can rock any relationship:

1. Blame shifting: Parties involved in a relationship are shifting blames.
2. Dishonesty: When someone is not forthcoming in telling the truth. Lack of transparency ruins it all!
3. Pride: When a relationship party feels he (or she) is more superior. (If you’re better than them, then you shouldn’t be part of them!)

As a child of God, you need to pray for your relationship to work well. Understand that you can’t fool God! You may need to first pray about your weakness before presenting the issues of other parties.

Don’t just pray for them; pray for yourself that God should help you behave well in your relationship.

Satan is a prime example of pride. He initiated pride and fell for the sake. Satan lost his position in heaven because of pride.

“And war broke out in heaven… So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Revelation 12:7-9).

Just as Satan is an example of pride so is Jesus an example of humility.

Jesus Christ is the prime example of humility. He humbled himself and was willing to do the will of God at all costs. (Revelation 5:1-4; Philippians 2:5-8). Therefore, God awarded him the highest honor as the king of the entire universe (earth and heaven inclusive).

“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven, on earth, and under the earth…” (Philippians 2:9-11).

God debased Satan to the lowest part of the earth with a promise to eternally condemned him to hell fire on the last day.

Be humble! Aspire to live your life in Christ Jesus; train your mind to declare, “I am what I am by the grace of God!”

Emulate Jesus Christ who is the prime example of humility.

Make humility your lifestyle to enjoy God’s premium benefits in every aspect of your life.

See some questions and answers on Pride versus Humility:

What did Satan lose as a result of pride?

• He was instantly judged by God and condemned to a permanent place of punishment called hell fire.

“…The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone… will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10).

• He was banished in heaven and cast to the earth pending his permanent punishment of hell fire.

“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!… you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit” (Isaiah 14:12-15).

• He became a “Lesser Personality” to all creatures. (Revelation 12:11; Isaiah 14:15).

“Those who see you will gaze at you… saying: ‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble… But you are cast out of your grave Like an abominable branch… Like the garment of those who are slain… Like a corpse trodden underfoot” (Isaiah 14:15-17).

What did Jesus Christ gain as a result of humility?

• He was awarded the highest authority in the universe – The King!

“And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!” (Revelation 5:13).
